Former Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer has voiced strong criticism of the government, stating that none of the promises made during the first year of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration have been fulfilled.

Ameer’s remarks came in response to President Muizzu’s recent comments on spreading lies, made during a ceremony held this morning at Dharubaaruge, commemorating the Day the Maldives Embraced Islam.

During his speech, President Muizzu raised concerns about the dangers of fraud and corruption, warning that such practices could damage the national fabric and ignite widespread unrest. He stressed the importance of combating deceit to preserve the integrity of the nation.

In response, Ameer accused the government of coming to power through lies, deception, and fraud. He suggested that President Muizzu's comments were ironic, given what he described as the government's failure to deliver on its promises.

Ameer specifically pointed out that after a year in power, none of the promises made by the government had been fulfilled, and that theft and corruption had become rampant across the country. He called on the President to set an example by avoiding lies and deception, especially when addressing the nation.

Ameer’s critique comes at a time when concerns about misinformation and its impact on society are at the forefront of political discussions in the Maldives.
