Homeland Security and Technology Minister Ali Ihusan has praised President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's decision to ban vaping in the Maldives, calling it a move the country will always be grateful for. Ihusan expressed his gratitude in response to the President's announcement to take steps toward banning vaping nationwide.

In a statement on X, Ihusan said that President Muizzu’s decision to ban the use of vape is a significant national decision that will have lasting positive effects. He thanked the President for prioritizing the health and well-being of the nation.

Earlier today, President Muizzu took to the social media platform X to announce that the import of vaping equipment and its components will be banned starting November 15, 2024. Additionally, the use, possession, manufacture, sale, advertising, and free distribution of vaping products will be prohibited from December 15, 2024.

The President’s decision comes after increasing calls from health organizations and concerned groups urging the government to ban vaping due to its rising prevalence and associated health risks.
