A series of Israeli air strikes in Khan Younis early Friday morning has resulted in the deaths of at least 20 people, including numerous children, according to Gaza's civil defense agency.

The strikes targeted two residential homes, with a significant impact on the Al-Fara family, where 14 individuals were killed, including nine children under 16. A separate air raid accounted for an additional six fatalities. Grieving relatives gathered at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, where the bodies of the children were laid out, wrapped in white shrouds.

In response to the strikes, the Israeli military stated that they had “eliminated a number of terrorists” through ongoing air and ground operations in southern Gaza. This escalation follows weeks of intensified military activity in the region, particularly focused on the northern territories, where Israeli forces allege that Hamas militants are regrouping.

The attacks have raised alarms over the rising civilian toll and the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, prompting calls for urgent international intervention and a ceasefire.
