President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced new diplomatic appointments, naming Aishath Azeema as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to India and Ahmed Sareer as the Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Saudi Arabia.

The appointments were formalized today in a ceremony where President Muizzu emphasized the importance of strengthening Maldives' bilateral relations with both nations. Azeema, who previously served as the Maldivian Ambassador to China since 2019, brings valuable experience to her new role as High Commissioner to India.

Ahmed Sareer, appointed as the Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, has an extensive background in foreign service. Sareer previously served as the Maldives' Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Ambassador to the United States. He also held the role of Foreign Secretary under former President Abdulla Yameen and was the Asia Director for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Saudi Arabia.
