President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated the Prime Minister of India, H.E Narendra Modi, and the Indian government on the vaccination initiative against Covid-19.

Sending his best wishes to India in a tweet today, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated that he is highly confident that India will be successful in this endeavor and that we are finally seeing an end to the COVID-19 scourge.

India initiated the biggest national vaccination campaign in the country’s history, against the Covid-19 on Saturday. India aims to vaccinate 300 million people by July, though it could take an additional two or more years to vaccinate all nearly 1.4 billion Indians.

Earlier this month, the Indian government granted emergency authorization to two vaccines, one developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, and a homegrown formula developed by an Indian company, Bharat Biotech. Both vaccines will be administered in two doses about a month apart.
