President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu launched the National Teacher Training Programme today, aiming to address the country's teacher shortage and increase the number of Maldivian teachers. The inauguration took place at the Maldives National University’s auditorium.
The programme, directly supervised by President Muizzu, is geared toward recent higher secondary graduates. It provides them with a structured career pathway into teaching, a move that the government hopes will strengthen the education sector and meet the rising demand for local educators.
During the ceremony, President Muizzu distributed grant letters to 21 schools across the Maldives with graduates participating in the programme. A total of 135 students from these schools will undergo training through a specially designed curriculum.
With this initiative, the government emphasizes a commitment to transforming the education sector and fostering a new generation of Maldivian educators.
