President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the expansion of Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM services to all islands of the Maldives, furthering the government’s efforts to ensure access to banking services across the nation.
At a ceremony held at the President’s Office this afternoon, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and BML to extend ATM services throughout the country. The event also saw the unveiling of the new ATM installed in Omadhoo, marking the first of many to be added under the new initiative.
Currently, BML operates 190 ATMs across the Maldives. The expansion project aims to increase this number to over 250 by the end of 2025, ensuring that every inhabited island has access to ATM services. This move aligns with President Muizzu's pledge to enhance financial inclusion and accessibility for all Maldivians.
During the event, Bank of Maldives CEO Mohamed Shareef presented a memento to President Muizzu in recognition of the initiative’s significance.
