Economic Minister Mohammed Saeed has announced that 2025 will be a green year for businesses, with an ambitious lineup of major government initiatives to stimulate economic growth. Saeed made the statement at an event marking the expansion of Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM services across all islands of the Maldives, held earlier today.
During the event, Minister Saeed highlighted that next year’s budget will mark a golden era of housing, as the government embarks on large-scale infrastructure and housing projects throughout the Maldives. According to Saeed, the year 2025 will serve as a springboard for economic activities, giving businesses ample opportunity to participate in significant projects.
Saeed expressed his vision for 2025 as a time for people and businesses to drive toward a vibrant, active economy.
The minister also revealed plans to enhance the nation’s digital payment infrastructure in 2025. He indicated that a range of payment gateways, currently unavailable in the Maldives, will soon be accessible, which will improve the ease of doing business and facilitate e-commerce. He cited options like PayPal and other e-wallets that need to be integrated.
Minister Saeed acknowledged that implementing these systems would require overcoming certain challenges but affirmed that the government is determined to achieve this under the guidance of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
