President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s health policies are centered on sustainable development, according to Health Minister Abdullah Nazim. The minister highlighted these priorities at the inauguration of Health Expo 2024, held yesterday.
In his speech, Minister Nazim emphasized that every improvement within the health sector is essential to nation-building. “There is no greater asset for a country than a healthy population,” he remarked. He noted that the administration’s health policies are designed not only to treat diseases but to create a robust system that fosters long-term wellness and prevention.
Reflecting the commitment to sustainability, Nazim emphasized, “We cannot have a health system that merely runs after diseases.” He explained that a shift toward preventative care and accessible, quality healthcare aligns with President Muizzu's vision for the Maldives.
Additionally, Minister Nazim revealed that efforts to bring quality medications to the Maldives are already underway. He also outlined plans to establish various specialized hospitals, which have now moved into the early planning stages.
“These initiatives represent the government’s commitment to elevating the Maldivian healthcare system to new heights,” Nazim stated.
