The British High Commissioner to the Maldive, H.E. Caron Rohsler, has expressed her interest in meeting the only female taxi driver currently present at Male’ City.

The High Commissioner expressed her interest via Twitter. In her tweet, she shared the news of the Man who was charged with vandalizing the female taxi driver’s vehicle and praised the female taxi driver, Aminath Hassan for her courage through multiple harassments and vandalism toward her vehicle.

“Would like to meet this woman one day! Takes courage to keep going in the face of intimidation. We keep doing our thing because we love it. Never be put off your passion by those who envy, whatever it is,” said Ms. Caron Rohsler.

The Prosecutor General’s Office pressed charges against Mohamed Hamdhoon, for damaging private property, for vandalizing taxi driver Aiminath Hassan's car on October 26. Although the incident marked the fifth time, the previous cases of harassment and vandalism filed by Aminath Hassan were sent back, due to lack of evidence.

During the vandalism incident, which occurred on October 26, the Minister of Youth Ahmed Mahloof supported repairing the damaged car.
