Israel's National Security Council has issued a travel advisory urging Israeli citizens to avoid traveling to the Maldives unless necessary. The alert level has been raised to level three, signaling heightened caution for non-essential travel.

The advisory, issued, cited the presence of terrorist supporters in the Maldives and alleged actions by the country targeting Israeli citizens as reasons for the heightened alert.

According to the National Security Council, this decision comes amid growing regional tensions. “Israeli citizens are advised to avoid travel to the Maldives unless it is essential,” the council stated, emphasizing safety concerns.

Tourism statistics indicate that 517 Israeli tourists visited the Maldives as of October last year, but this year the number has significantly declined. The Maldives has reportedly restricted Israeli tourists from entering the country following recent Israeli military actions in Gaza.

The warning marks an escalation in security measures as Israel continues to monitor potential risks to its citizens abroad.
