The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike on a crowded Gaza camp that killed 33 Palestinians, describing it as an act of “organized terrorism and genocide.” The attack targeted a post office in the Nuseirat refugee camp, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.
In a statement released on Friday, the OIC denounced the strike as “horrific” and an extension of ongoing violence against the Palestinian people that has lasted more than 14 months. The organization called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for what it labeled as systematic targeting of civilians in densely populated areas.
The aftermath of the attack saw grieving families gather at Al-Awda Hospital to mourn their loved ones. Suheil Mattar, who lost his grandchildren and daughter-in-law in the strike, expressed his heartbreak: “They have killed the hope and optimism. Every time we think peace is near, it disappears.”
According to Gaza’s health ministry, over 44,875 people have been killed and more than 105,454 injured since the escalation of violence began. Most of the casualties are reported to be civilians, amplifying calls for an immediate ceasefire and increased humanitarian aid to the region.
As the death toll rises, the OIC has urged swift international action to prevent further loss of life. However, with no significant progress toward a resolution, the Gaza Strip continues to endure relentless violence and mounting devastation.
