The Commissioner of Police, Ali Shujau, has announced that a team of foreign experts will be brought in to assist with the investigation into the fire that broke out last Thursday early morning.

Speaking at a press conference held by the Maldives Police Service, Commissioner Shujau stated that the foreign experts would join the investigation within the next three days. Their expertise is expected to bolster the ongoing efforts to uncover critical details about the fire.

Forensic teams are currently working at the scene, collecting evidence and taking samples for further analysis. CCTV footage from the vicinity of the building where the fire occurred has been obtained and sent to forensic labs for examination. Additionally, police are recording statements from witnesses and are actively tracking down individuals believed to have been among the first to witness the incident.

Commissioner Shujau expressed confidence in the collaboration with international experts, noting that their involvement would help expedite the investigation and provide answers to the public.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the Commissioner urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Authorities have assured the public that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
