Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has arrived in China to attend the 'Third China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Development Cooperation'.
The forum, co-hosted by the Maldives, is scheduled to take place from December 15-17 in Kunming, Yunnan Province.
The Vice President was warmly received at Kunming Changshui International Airport by key officials, including Luo Hongjiang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Yunnan Province, Tang Ying, Head of the Global Development Promotion Center of CIDCA, and Wang Wei, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province.
The forum, organized by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), aims to foster collaboration among Indian Ocean region countries in advancing the blue economy—a sustainable approach to ocean-based economic activities. The Maldives' active role as a co-host highlights its commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable development.
