The President’s Office announced today that Thursday, January 2, 2025, will be observed as a public holiday, following the New Year’s Day holiday on January 1, which falls on a Wednesday.
The decision was made to provide an extended break for employees, giving a continuous four-day holiday period.
The declaration is in line with the Government’s efforts to create uninterrupted rest for workers during the New Year celebrations. As the start of the Gregorian calendar on January 1 is a recognized public holiday, the President’s Office coordinated the additional holiday on January 2 to ensure a long weekend for the public.
