The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into allegations of corruption involving the allocation of land by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) in the second phase of the Hulhumale' project. The probe focuses on claims that land was granted to individuals not listed as eligible under the government’s landowner scheme.
ACC President Adam Shamil confirmed the investigation but refrained from providing specific details about the case.
The controversy emerged after HDC sent a letter to the Housing Ministry requesting permission to erect fences for landowners listed under the scheme. Upon review, the Housing Ministry discovered that several individuals mentioned in the letter were not registered as eligible for land. Documents circulating on social media have further fueled public interest in the case.
Among the implicated names is Fazeel Rasheed, the brother of HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, who reportedly applied for permission to construct a wall on a disputed plot.
