Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that 2024 will be a successful year in every aspect.
Speaking at a special ceremony held to inaugurate the 2025 Action Plan of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the Minister said that 2024 saw the highest amount of funds collected for Zakat in history. He also mentioned that a large number of Quran memorizers (Hafiz) were produced in 2024, and that it was a year in which important Islamic works were carried out in the history of the Maldives.
Minister Shaheem said that the important responsibility of spreading the Islamic light to the Maldives, as stated in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's manifesto, is being carried out with great determination and sincerity to spread the light of Islamic guidance among the Maldivian Ummah.
Speaking at this ceremony, the Minister said that among the things planned for 2025, Waqf buildings will be renovated, a Zakat House building will be constructed, and the Islamic Ministry will enter into many new initiatives. He added that these works are being done in collaboration with the country's scholars, Islamic associations, imams from different parts of the country, and all councils. The Minister expressed his gratitude to these parties for their efforts.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has also launched the Risalath and Namaadhu (prayer) programs in addition to the 2025 Action Plan of the Islamic Ministry.
Regarding the program to elevate prayer (Namaadhu), the Minister said that this project is being carried out to remind the entire community about prayer and its importance. He also mentioned that the 2025 Risalath program is specially focused on Islamic ethics.
