Maldives and neighboring India have held discussions to enhance defense ties, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.

The meeting took place during the official visit of Maldivian Minister of Defence Ghassan Maumoon to India, where he met with Indian Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh. Discussions focused on exploring avenues for deeper cooperation in defense and security.

According to the Maldivian Ministry of Defence, senior officials from both sides participated in the talks, underscoring the commitment of both nations to bolstering regional security. The visit marks Ghassan's first official trip to India since assuming office as Defence Minister.



The diplomatic visit follows an earlier trip by Maldivian Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer to India. Relations between the two countries have seen renewed momentum under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who has emphasized strengthening strategic partnerships with India.
