President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to install top-quality medical equipment in healthcare facilities across the Maldives, aiming to enhance healthcare services nationwide.

During a meeting with residents of Angolhitheemu as part of his tour of islands in North Maalhosmadulu Atoll, the President outlined the government’s vision for the healthcare sector. He stated that health centers and hospitals will be equipped with world-renowned brands, ensuring the availability of essential resources such as reagents and other supplies. He emphasized the government's plan to secure bulk purchases of high-quality medicines at affordable prices, simplifying the procurement process for medical equipment and reagents.

President Muizzu also highlighted his commitment to accelerating development in rural areas. He said that involving ministers in discussions with local councils and institutions is vital to expediting projects, enabling direct problem-solving and bypassing bureaucratic delays.

On infrastructure development, the President explained that road construction projects would align with the completion of water and sewerage systems to ensure integrated development. He added that this year’s budget prioritizes establishing sports facilities for youth and women, focusing on their health and well-being. Recognizing the popularity of handball among women, he promised to build a handball court in Angolhitheemu.

The President also addressed the stalled visitor center project in Angolhitheemu, assuring residents that it would be revived and completed within the year.
