MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail has accused President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu of attempting to paralyze the Supreme Court through political influence.

Speaking on X in response to the MDP’s statement on alleged interference in the judiciary, Fayyaz emphasized that the government must respect the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution. He asserted that the public will not tolerate any attempts to obstruct justice or undermine the independence of the judiciary.

The MDP's statement, issued tonight, claimed that the government seeks to remove three Supreme Court judges and replace them with individuals loyal to the administration. The party further alleged that Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef and two others have already been selected for these positions.

The government has yet to respond to the allegations.
