Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has strongly criticized the current Administration, alleging that bribery and corruption are rampant under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government.
In a message shared on social media, Dr. Jameel questioned the state of the country, saying corruption had spread to a level that should alarm every Muslim. He accused the government of openly distributing money, jobs, and state land at its discretion.
Dr. Jameel also expressed concern that many religious scholars remain silent despite what he described as serious allegations of theft and corruption. Questioning this silence, he asked whether such actions were being justified based on political allegiance.
Commenting on press freedom, Dr. Jameel said that individuals he described as “so-called scholars” who tolerate corruption are unwilling to accept criticism from the media. Referring to a recent cartoon circulated on social media, he said it fell within the scope of journalism and questioned why it had become controversial.
Dr. Jameel’s remarks come amid continued criticism of government policies and actions by opposition figures and sections of the public.
