President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assured the public that the flat list for the newly announced Housing Scheme would be free from political interference. Speaking at a function at Republic Square this evening, following the redevelopment and inauguration of the Izzuddin Jetty, the President highlighted the transparency of the process.

Recalling his experience as a junior government employee, President Muizzu acknowledged that housing projects implemented by previous administrations were sometimes influenced by political pressure. He reassured the public that this time, there would be no such influence in the preparation of the flat list, making this the first flat list announced without external interference.

The President explained that the list was compiled based on the regulations set by the previous government and after addressing issues identified by the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives (ACC). He emphasized that the list of flat beneficiaries was now made public, and no one had been deliberately excluded from the list.

President Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring fairness, stating that no flat would be taken away from anyone who rightfully qualifies, a promise he made during his presidential campaign and continues to uphold. He also encouraged individuals who were not included in the list to submit complaints through the established procedures within the given timeframe. Once the complaint period concludes, each case will be reviewed, and those who qualify will be reconsidered. If any flats remain available, they will be allocated based on the points awarded according to the applicants' criteria.

In addition, the President announced plans for further housing projects in Malé, aimed at providing more opportunities for the people of Malé City and all citizens aged 18 and above. These projects will ensure that those who were not included in the current flat list will have access to future housing opportunities.
