India has sent around 15 tonnes of relief materials to Myanmar in response to the devastating earthquake that struck the country and neighboring Thailand on Friday. The aid was transported via a C-130J military aircraft of the Indian Air Force.

The powerful earthquake caused widespread destruction, toppling buildings, bridges, and a monastery. Reports indicate that over 700 people have been killed across both Myanmar and Thailand.

According to officials, the relief supplies sent by India include tents, sleeping bags, blankets, ready-to-eat meals, water purifiers, solar lamps, generator sets, and essential medicines.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the disaster, stating that India is prepared to provide any necessary assistance to the affected countries.

"Concerned by the situation in the wake of the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. Praying for the safety and wellbeing of everyone," Modi said on X.

He added that Indian authorities have been instructed to remain on standby and that the Ministry of External Affairs has been directed to coordinate with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand to offer further support.
