President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring equal rights and opportunities for children with thalassaemia, marking World Thalassaemia Day with a strong call for action and compassion.

In a public message, the President highlighted the Maldives’ high rate of thalassaemia and stressed the need to boost public awareness and improve access to consistent treatment across the country. He urged all relevant authorities to prioritize the health and care of children living with the condition.

Dr. Muizzu also reaffirmed pledges made during the 2023 Presidential Election, promising meaningful reforms to address long-standing challenges faced by thalassaemia patients and their families.

Calling on the public to donate blood, the President described the act as spiritually rewarding and essential to supporting those in need. He also took to social media, stressing the importance of a society where children with thalassaemia can thrive without discrimination.

“Fulfilling their hopes for a joyful life is a national duty,” he said.
