The Election Commission has announced that local council elections and women’s development committee elections will take place in April next year.

Preparations are already underway, with the commission focusing on updating laws and regulations ahead of the polls. A large number of candidates are expected to participate, prompting early planning.

The commission is also working to digitize most aspects of the election process, excluding voting and counting, in a bid to streamline operations and reduce costs. Efforts are ongoing to identify a new election center following the unavailability of the Dharubaaruge, which had previously hosted election-related activities.
