A total of 923,390 tourists visited the Maldives as of last Tuesday, the Ministry of Tourism has announced.

This marks an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year, when 854,928 tourists had visited. In 2023, the number stood at 768,668 for the same duration.

The Maldives is now just 76,610 arrivals short of reaching one million tourist visits this year, a milestone expected to be achieved by next month. Currently, the country welcomes over 100,000 tourists each month.

According to the ministry, China remains the top source market in 2025, with 107,544 tourists. Russia follows with 99,681 visitors, while the United Kingdom ranks third with 94,671 tourists.

On average, 4,632 tourists arrive in the Maldives each day. Most visitors choose to stay in resorts, with 657,289 tourists spending their holidays in resort islands. Guesthouses hosted 215,494 visitors, with the rest opting for hotels, safaris, and other accommodations.

The ministry continues to promote the Maldives as a leading holiday destination globally, aiming to surpass 2024’s overall tourist arrival numbers.
