President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the creative industry is projected to contribute 15 percent of the Maldives’ GDP by 2030, aligning with the government's vision for a diversified and productive economy.

Speaking to state media after visiting stalls at a national exhibition "Maldives Expo 2025" launched on Friday, President Muizzu described the event as a success, saying it showcased the immense creative potential of Maldivians. He highlighted that the exhibition served as a platform to foster innovation and present practical ideas from various sectors.

“The goal is for the creative industry to make up 15 percent of our GDP by 2030. But based on the enthusiasm and quality of ideas we’ve seen, we might even reach that milestone earlier,” President Muizzu said.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the sector, including initiatives to establish a national payment system and open financial avenues for creative entrepreneurs.

The President also emphasized the role of digital platforms in expanding market access for Maldivian creators both locally and internationally, promising further support to grow these opportunities.
