Housing Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib has confirmed that flats under the "Gedhoruveriyaa" housing scheme will be allocated based on the permanent list released by the previous administration.
Speaking at a press conference today, the minister said President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government will honor the final list of flat recipients announced on 15 November 2023 by the former Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure.
“There will be no new or revised list. The government will proceed with allocations as per the previous list, but in accordance with Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) advisories and existing regulations,” Muthalib stated.
He added that applicants who fail to meet eligibility criteria will be removed from the list. The minister also announced a relaxation in the residency requirement: individuals who moved to the city before the 15-year cut-off and have remained there since will be considered eligible residents.
