At a campaign rally at the MDP headquarters, Mayor Adam Azim called on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to honor his promise of providing MVR 200,000 to each Hiyaa flat owner in Hulhumalé Phase II.
Azim said that while addressing residents in Hulhumalé, the President mentioned deducting MVR 200,000 from the rent. However, Azim noted that the original pledge was to cover the amount as the average completion cost of the flats, not as a rent deduction, and residents have yet to receive the payment.
He emphasized that the money should be paid in cash and urged the government to distribute it before Ramadan.
Azim also criticized the President for misleading the public and using intimidation, saying authorities have failed to act transparently in fulfilling their commitments.
