President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called on instructors of the Maldives National Service (MNS) to act with prudence and wisdom in shaping a strong, disciplined generation of youth who live by Islamic values and serve as national assets.

The appeal was made during a meeting held on Thursday at Bandaara Koshi, the headquarters of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), where the President, as Commander-in-Chief, met with MNS instructors.

Highlighting the overwhelming response to the programme—with 891 applications received since applications opened on April 30—President Muizzu said the interest reflects the deep support for the initiative among youth and parents, even without promotional campaigns.

He urged instructors to ensure that the programme is implemented in a manner that aligns with public expectations and reinforces Islamic principles, patriotism, good conduct, and national duty. He also expressed his intention to further expand the programme.

The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon, Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, Vice Chief Brigadier General Ahmed Ghiyas, other senior MNDF officials, and MNS personnel.

The Maldives National Service aims to foster national spirit, discipline, and readiness among youth while supporting the growth of national security forces. The application deadline closes at 12:00 AM on June 1, 2025.
