Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has announced that the Maldives’ first General Practice (GP) clinic in Malé will be completed within the next one and a half months.
Speaking during a local media program, the minister said the initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to reduce long queues at hospitals and ease pressure on emergency and specialist services.
He highlighted that GP clinics are designed to provide treatment for common illnesses, helping streamline access to basic healthcare and reducing the burden on major hospitals.
According to Minister Nazim, four GP clinics are planned for Malé City, and two additional clinics will be located in the Hulhumalé. He also noted that preparations are underway to begin work on a second clinic shortly.
“These clinics will significantly improve access to treatment and deliver faster services to the public,” the minister said.
