Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail has accused the United Nations of failing in its duty as a guardian of global peace, labelling it a tool of empire that shields powerful states and their allies from accountability for genocide and war crimes.
In a post shared on social media, Fayyaz said the Muslim world is being forcibly reshaped while internal divisions persist. He cited the destruction of Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Lebanon, and expressed concern over growing pressure on Iran, warning that Türkiye could be next. He added that the world is witnessing genocide unfold in real time through social media.
Fayyaz argued that relying on the UN for justice is futile and called instead for the formation of new alliances among countries that share faith, values, and common threats. He condemned what he described as aggression against Iran by the United States and Israel, and emphasized that lasting global peace is not possible without peace for the Palestinian people.

There is no peace in immoral strength but only subjugation. The UN is no longer a guardian of peace. Ot is a tool of empire. It gives cover to genocide and war crimes when committed by powerful states and their allies. While Muslims argue over sects, the Muslim world is burning…
