Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullah Khaleel has said that the Maldives’ current foreign policy has resulted in closer relations with many countries, which have brought significant benefits to the nation.

He made the remarks while speaking at the launch of the documentary Minivan Dhivehi Raajje. Khaleel described the Maldives' foreign policy as a model that supports national interest and promotes international cooperation.

According to the Minister, the Maldives has established strong diplomatic ties with major countries such as China, India, the United States, and nations in the Arab world. He said these relationships have enabled the Maldives to secure foreign assistance in addressing various challenges and development needs.

Khaleel urged the public to refrain from actions that could hinder the country’s diplomatic progress, and assured that the Maldives would continue to maintain relations with any country that respects the nation’s sovereignty and the will of its people.

He also noted that the Maldives has gained international recognition through its foreign policy, as evidenced by its election to several international organizations and commissions.

The Minister said the stronger these relationships become, the greater the respect for the Maldives' independence and sovereignty on the global stage.
