Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that all former Presidents of the Maldives will be invited to the official opening ceremony of the new terminal at Velana International Airport.
MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed stated that in addition to the former presidents, former employees of the company and senior figures in the tourism sector will also receive invitations.
The inauguration of the new terminal is scheduled for July 26 and will be officiated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The move to invite former leaders comes amid ongoing public debate about who should receive credit for the terminal project. Addressing the issue, President Muizzu remarked that the credit belongs to all the presidents who contributed during various phases of the terminal’s development.
