The Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today during the President’s official visit to the UK.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between the Maldives and the United Kingdom, with discussions centred on cooperation in key areas such as fisheries, climate change adaptation, renewable energy expansion, and enhancing education and scholarship opportunities. Both sides also explored new avenues for collaboration across vital sectors.

The meeting concluded with a mutual reaffirmation of the long-standing partnership between the two nations and a shared commitment to deepen future cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the United Kingdom were officially established on July 26, 1965.
