President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged that development plans for Noonu Maafaru will be shaped around the needs and concerns of its residents, with several key projects revised to ensure a citizen-centric approach.
Speaking during his visit to the island, President Muizzu assured the community that their concerns would be incorporated into the broader development strategy. He announced that revisions will be made to the existing health sector plans, including the recommencement of the health centre project.
In the education sector, the President revealed plans to add four new classrooms. He also committed to upgrading the island’s sports facilities and confirmed that the long-awaited road development project will begin later this year.
A major highlight of the visit was the announcement of a comprehensive upgrade to Maafaru International Airport and its supporting infrastructure. The island has also been earmarked for housing projects in 2026 under the administration’s nationwide affordable housing initiative.
