President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured residents of N. Landhoo that all development initiatives on the island will be driven by the community's needs and aspirations.
Speaking during his visit to the island this morning, as part of his ongoing tour of Noonu Atoll, President Muizzu emphasized that his Administration is committed to a citizen-first approach in delivering sustainable development. He highlighted that efforts are already underway to ensure the island’s health centre operates 24 hours a day, reaffirming the government’s focus on strengthening the healthcare sector.
The President also spoke on promoting fitness and sports, identifying handball development as a priority across several islands. He announced that budget allocations for constructing handball courts will be made in 2026.
On environmental matters, President Muizzu addressed the pressing issue of coastal erosion and revealed plans to develop a dedicated beach area. These projects are set to be included in the seventh phase of island works, with agreements expected to be signed in September and construction to begin by the end of the year.
Education was another key focus, with the President pledging continued support for the development of N. Landhoo School and reaffirming his Administration’s commitment to enhancing educational resources on the island.
He further announced that the construction of an ice plant will be completed within the year and that work on upgrading the island’s water networks will begin soon. The President expressed confidence that these essential services would be in place before his next visit to Landhoo.
The visit is part of President Muizzu’s broader initiative to tour all Maldivian atolls, accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials.
