President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced a series of key development initiatives for N. Kudafari, including the establishment of a science laboratory and six additional classrooms to enable the permanent provision of A-level education on the island.
The announcement was made during the President’s address to residents as part of his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands of South Miladhunmadulu Atoll. He confirmed that the educational expansion project will be funded through the 2026 State Budget.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to need-based development, President Muizzu assured that all planned projects in Kudafari would be delivered in alignment with the community’s priorities. He also reaffirmed that coastal protection works will be carried out in accordance with the island’s land use plan, with an emphasis on ensuring long-term economic and environmental sustainability.
Further expanding on infrastructure efforts, the President revealed plans to build a modern, soundproof powerhouse at the current generator facility site, improving energy efficiency and reducing noise impact. He also confirmed that construction of the proposed Fitness and Recreation Centre would begin as soon as the island council allocates a suitable location.
President Muizzu concluded by reiterating his administration’s full support for Kudafari’s development, assuring residents that all efforts would be carried out equitably and without bias.
