Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his honour in taking part in the 60th Independence Day celebrations of the Maldives, scheduled for July 25, 2025. The visit comes at the official invitation of Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
In a social media post, Prime Minister Modi also noted that the visit marks 60 years of India-Maldives diplomatic relations. He emphasized that discussions with President Muizzu will help strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
“The talks with President Muizzu will certainly add momentum to bilateral ties across diverse sectors,” Modi stated.
The Prime Minister’s participation in the milestone celebration is seen as a reaffirmation of the historically close ties between the two countries. His visit is expected to focus on enhancing collaboration in areas such as economic development, maritime security, healthcare, and climate resilience.
