President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conferred the prestigious Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin (O.D.R.I) on Qasim Ibrahim, Chief Justice (Retired) Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan, and Ambassador Hassan Sobir. The honours were presented during the official Independence Day ceremony held this morning, in recognition of their decades-long contributions to the nation.

Qasim Ibrahim, a leading figure in the Maldivian business sector, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to commerce, education, and public service. From humble beginnings, he built a business empire and played key roles in national finance and politics, including serving as Finance Minister and chairing the Special Majlis that drafted the current Constitution.

Chief Justice (Retired) Muthasim Adnan was honoured for his efforts to strengthen the judiciary, reform legal education, and promote transparency and rule of law. His service spans over 33 years, including tenures in the foreign ministry, academia, and the judiciary.

Ambassador Hassan Sobir was recognized for his extensive work in tourism, fisheries, agriculture, and foreign diplomacy. With over 38 years of public service, he has held multiple ministerial and ambassadorial posts and currently serves as the Maldives’ Ambassador to Japan.

The President praised their invaluable contributions to national development and their legacy of dedicated service to the Maldives.
