President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Monday reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to close cooperation with Sri Lanka to advance shared goals of uplifting lives, strengthening peace, and fostering progress.

Speaking at a state banquet held in honour of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka, who is on a state visit to the Maldives, President Muizzu highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the two nations. He reflected on six decades of diplomatic relations, underscoring the shared history, values, and kinship between the peoples of the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

The President praised the warmth and generosity of the Sri Lankan people, noting the positive impact of cultural and economic exchanges. He emphasized the growing collaboration in sectors including tourism, digital technology, security, and cultural exchange, describing these as vital to addressing the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

President Muizzu described the day’s discussions between delegations as meaningful and productive, expressing confidence in expanding bilateral cooperation to unlock new opportunities, promote inclusive prosperity, support sustainable development, and enhance regional stability.
