Sri Lanka is prepared to lease land to Maldivian citizens and investors for long-term periods, according to Maldives' Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Masood Imad.
Speaking on a state media program during President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s official visit to Malé, the Ambassador said the visit opened up promising opportunities for both countries. He highlighted Sri Lanka’s willingness to create favorable conditions for Maldivian businesses.
Ambassador Masood stated that the Sri Lankan government aims to lease land to Maldivian entrepreneurs under its legal framework. He also noted that the Maldivian Embassy in Colombo will support those interested in investing or doing business in Sri Lanka.
Additionally, discussions are ongoing to allow Maldivian parties to operate a hospital in Sri Lanka, he said.
