On International Youth Day, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu urged a whole-of-society approach to empower young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions included in decision-making from local communities to global platforms, advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and beyond.
In a message posted on his official X account, the President highlighted the importance of nurturing young people’s creativity and providing resources to help shape their futures. He noted that Maldivian youth continue to demonstrate that age is no barrier to making a meaningful impact.
With youth projected to comprise 57 percent of the global population by 2030, President Dr. Muizzu stressed the urgency of empowering young people to assume decision-making roles. He pointed to the Presidential Youth Advisory Board, which gives youth a direct role in national progress, and the development of the “Zuvaanunge Third Space” as a platform for skills development and dialogue.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to supporting youth leadership in building a strong digital economy, prioritizing housing for young families, and providing the tools to turn ideas into action for a connected and prosperous future.
