President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conferred the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Dhiyamigili Dynasty (ODRDD) on Adam Abdul Rahman, widely known as Utheemu Adam.

The award was presented during the official National Day ceremony held this morning in Utheemu, North Thiladhunmathi Atoll.

Utheemu Adam began his public service in 1965 as Island Chief of Utheemu and later served as Atoll Chief for over a decade. His leadership during periods of food shortages in the 1970s ensured no one in his community succumbed to hunger. He also played a key role in reforming development project management under the Ministry of Atolls Administration, improving efficiency and extending services to more islands.

Respected for his empathy and close ties with the people, he went on to serve as Administrator of the Bodu Thakurufaanu Memorial Centre and as a Director at the Ministry of Education.

Beyond his administrative career, Utheemu Adam is recognised as a leading figure in Dhivehi language and literature. A poet, writer, and storyteller, he has received national awards for his contributions, including the National Award of Honour for Dhivehi literature in 2016.
