President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé after concluding his official visit to China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
During the visit, President Muizzu attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, where he participated in the “SCO Plus” meeting with other Heads of State and Government. He also held bilateral talks with President Xi, reaffirming commitments to deepen cooperation and advance shared interests.
Several agreements and Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the Maldives and China across key sectors to support national development.
The President also met other world leaders on the sidelines of the summit and attended the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People in the Second World War.
This marks President Muizzu’s second visit to China since taking office in November 2023, underscoring the historic ties between the two nations.
