The President’s Office has announced the dissolution of the Media Fenda, effective today, citing repeated non-compliance with established guidelines. The decision was detailed in Press Statement No. 2025-001.
The Media Fenda was established on 29 May 2025 to strengthen engagement between journalists and government institutions by facilitating access to information and coverage of events. However, the President’s Office noted that the facility had not been used in line with the regulations.
According to the statement, individuals without Official Passes had entered the Media Fenda posing as journalists, while accredited reporters raised concerns over difficulties in accessing information. Repeated breaches of public safety and Green Zone regulations, including obstruction of news gathering, were also highlighted as factors leading to the decision.
Despite the dissolution, the President’s Office assured that it, along with other government institutions, will remain accessible to journalists for coverage.
