President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu departed for the State of Qatar tonight to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, scheduled for 15 September in Doha.
The summit was convened in response to the Israeli attack of 9 September and will gather leaders of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). President Muizzu is set to deliver a statement at the meeting.
According to the President’s Office, his participation reflects the Maldives’ solidarity with Qatar and its commitment to defending the rights of the Palestinian people. The Maldives continues to call for urgent international action to end the ongoing violence and atrocities in the region.
