Former Vice President Faisal Naseem has called on independent institutions to carry out their duties impartially and not operate under political influence or personal agendas.
Faisal made the remarks following the Anti-Corruption Commission’s decision to summon several former state officials, including ministers from the previous MDP administration, for questioning over corruption allegations. He cautioned that such actions could erode public confidence in the independence of state institutions, especially at a time when many citizens are frustrated with the government and believe that certain individuals are being unfairly targeted.
Faisal emphasized that independent bodies must act fairly, transparently, and in accordance with justice, without political bias or external pressure.
The Anti-Corruption Commission has recently summoned MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail, former Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer, and former Education Minister Aishath Ali for questioning in relation to ongoing corruption probes.
