The Government of the Maldives has strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s preliminary approval of two draft laws seeking to impose Israeli sovereignty over the Occupied West Bank and to legitimize control over illegal settlements.
In a statement, the government described the move as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international law that further undermines efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The Maldives called on the international community to take urgent and concrete action to end such provocations, protect the rights of the Palestinian people, and hold Israel accountable for violations committed in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Reaffirming its unwavering support for Palestine, the Maldives reiterated its commitment to the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
