MDP Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail has described the decision by the people of Feydhoo to remain under the Addu City Council as a wise and important choice.
In a post on X, Fayyaz congratulated the residents of Feydhoo, saying they had chosen the most appropriate and promising path for their future. He also expressed hope that the people of Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo would be able to work towards greater freedom and development following their decision to separate.
According to the referendum results, 1,782 people in Feydhoo voted against forming a separate council, while 615 voted in favour. Voter turnout in the island was 55.43 percent.
